I think it a good thing that there are MLK day sales, it brings his name up and people have to remember his life. Even the Macy's "MLK white sale" helped in that respect. Although it was a horrible marketing slogan they were the first (that I know of) to do something for that day. That was back when southern states had MLK and Robert E. Lee day on the same day.Darrell B.
